Go ahead and close your eyes, or gently soften your gaze.
Let your feet rest flat on the floor, feeling the ground supporting you. Let your hands rest wherever they feel most comfortable — in your lap, by your sides, or even over your heart.
Let’s begin by taking a slow, deep breath in through your nose…
And a long, gentle exhale through your mouth.
We’ll do that two more times:
Deep breath in…
And release it slowly.
One more time, deep breath in…
And exhale, letting your body relax just a bit more.
Notice how your body feels as you arrive in this moment. Feel your seat beneath you, your feet anchored to the earth, your shoulders softening just a little.
If thoughts are swirling or distractions pop up, that’s okay. Simply notice them and let them drift by, like clouds in the sky.
Now bring your attention to your breath — steady and quiet — and let it remind you: you are here, you are safe, and you are held.
Let’s anchor in with a few intentions. You can silently repeat these words in your mind, or just let them wash over you:👉 I am open and willing to learn more about myself today.
👉 I hold compassion for all parts of me — the light and the shadow.
👉 I honor my growth and the beautiful complexity of who I am.
👉 I am curious, present, and grounded in this space.
Take one more slow, nourishing breath in…
And a full, cleansing breath out.
Gently start to bring your awareness back to the room. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Roll your shoulders if that feels good. And when you’re ready, softly open your eyes. -
TJ Teems discussed the top characteristics above and below the waterline of each of the 9 Enneagram Types. She gave us this to reflect on:
Think of a current challenging relationship. What would it look like to let in some more compassion in light of what might be underneath the waterline?
